Ana Paula is a Mexican artist originally from the city of Cancun, currently based in Amsterdam. She graduated with honors in Visual Arts at the UAEM, Mexico. She has participated in group exhibitions at the San Carlos Museum and the National Art Museum MUNAL in Mexico City with the No Name exhibitions in 2018 and 2020, she was also invited to participate in the Mexico in the Heart of Mexico exhibition at the Zocalo and MIDE Museum in Mexico City in 2018.
At the same time, she has also dedicated herself to illustration, collaborating with clients such as: Chevrolet, Cultura Colectiva, Visit Mexico, Muy Mucho, Comex, Selina Hotels, among many others.
Her artwork explores known elements and impossible landscapes: a blend of the familiar with the surreal, inspired by real and fictional places. A central theme of her art is the relationship between humanity and the world and nature, with which she seeks to evoke a longing for the lost and at the same time the search for the unknown.
Often the underlying thread that ties her paintings is found in the analysis and representation of the concept of solitude, an increasingly extinct resource in today's society.
“I seek to explore with my paintings our understanding of loneliness while we contemplate an image that may belong to the past, but also to the future”.
